Deterministic X-Ray simulation for CT acquisition planning

The talk will start with a short introduction of Fraunhofer EZRT and the Chair of X-Ray Microscopy. An overview of research topics will be given, which covers CT for non-destructive testing from sub-micro scale up to large scale linear accelerator based CT. The talk will then focus on the research activities of Richard Schielein : some recent results of his approach to energy-calibrate CT simulations, for EZRTs inhouse deterministic simulation software, using a spectrum estimation method. Secondly the results of an automated acquisition planning using brute force CT simulation and the Shannon-entropy as a figure of merit for CT image quality will be shown.
