CREATIS laboratory (Lyon, France) is opening a PhD position focusing on 3D photo-acoustic imaging. This PhD position (ESR) is offered within the frame of OILTEBIA, an Initial Training Network (ITN) funded by the European Commission's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) Marie Curie Actions.
Main objectives:
PhD position will be focused on 3 main objectives in relation with research teams of Creatis:
- Modelling and design of US sensors for 2D and 3D photoacoustic tomography, including novel approaches with CMUT arrays
- Development of reconstruction algorithms for photoacoustic tomography adapted to system geometry and bandwidth performances
- Experimental developments on our imaging platform including laser equipment and research scanners
Research fields: Imaging, biophysics, ultrasound and optical imaging.
ITN context:
An attractive training programme will be offered to the successful candidates consisting in expert research supervision by leading researchers, access to training courses, as well as participation to summer schools in conformity with Marie Curie Actions rules. Training in secondment (Italy/Spain), visits and collaboration with both the academic and industrial partners (Vermon, France), are also offered within the OILTEBIA network.
Candidate application:
The candidate should have a strong background in medical physics and signal/image processing. Experience in ultrasound imaging will be appreciated as well as experimental background. Proven communication and scientific writing skills in English is necessary. We are seeking outstanding and enthusiastic students, motivated for working in a multidisciplinary team. PhD candidate will be enrolled in the PhD program at INSA-Lyon, University of Lyon, France (duration of the PhD: 36 months).
Monthly living allowance for the researcher is around 1800 euros plus a mobility allowance of at least 700 euros.

Eligibility criteria:
Early Stage Researchers must be not yet have been awarded a doctoral degree. They must be in the first four years after obtaining Master Degree. Candidates must not have resided or carried out their main activity in France for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to date of recruitment.
