Image4US / 1024-channel ultrasound imaging

A research platform combining high-channel-count acquisition, advanced image formation and real-time processing for 3D medical ultrasound.

HIGH-CHANNEL-COUNT 3D ULTRASOUND

Research platform

Image4US is a joint laboratory between CREATIS and DB-SAS focused on 3D medical ultrasound with a large number of channels. The system is designed around 1024 channels, programmable acquisition and the combination of acquisition electronics with image formation and blood-flow estimation.

Image formation and real-time processing

Research includes GPU implementation of beamforming, the UltraSpy software package, adaptive beamformers and advanced Doppler methods. The platform is intended as a flexible research tool for validating new acquisition and reconstruction methods.

Doppler and 3D imaging

One research direction concerns 3D Doppler imaging and quantification of intracardiac and transmitral flow. The high channel count is used to explore imaging configurations that are difficult to implement with conventional research systems.
