If you downloaded the tarball, you must have a directory called 'Examples'.
Some of the .cxx correspond to utilities (e.g : PrintFile, ReWrite, 
MakeDicomDir, etc), that may be used 'as is'.
Some other ones (whose name starts with 'ex') are ... examples.

Have a look at 'ReWrite.cxx' (loads a Dicom image and rewrites it)
