Subject: 2nd PET Rapid Image reconstruction Challenge (PETRIC2): first
announcement

Dear all

We are happy to announce that PETRIC 2 will start in November 2025!

>From 1 November 2025 to 1 March 2026, we will be running our second PET
Rapid Image reconstruction Challenge.

What's this about?

   - Develop a PET reconstruction algorithm to solve a maximum a-posteriori
estimate (MAP) using the smoothed relative difference prior (RDP)
   - Phantom data with low count levels from different scanners are
   available for development
   - An example repository on GitHub with an implementation of a reference
   algorithm will be provided
   - Make sure your algorithm is the fastest to reach our target image
   quality
   - Win cash prizes

Some more details are at https://github.com/SyneRBI/PETRIC2 (more to follow
soon).

You have not heard about PETRIC before? Have a look here:
https://www.ccpsynerbi.ac.uk/petric/ where you can find links to the
software, results, awards and the associated workshop, including recordings.

PETRIC2 participants will be encouraged to our *special issue* on Rapid
Image Reconstruction
<https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/68511/rapid-image-reconstruction>
in Frontiers in Nuclear Medicine. This special issue is *open for everyone
until June 2026*, and is not restricted to PET. Please note that we have
vouchers available for Open Access fees for submission before September
2025.

Feel free to forward this message.

We gratefully acknowledge funding from UKRI EPSRC and DRI as well as CoSeC
<https://www.cosec.ac.uk/> technical support to be able to run this
challenge.
