2. Summary of Research activities

2.1. 1988-1992 (PhD Thesis)

My PhD thesis was on the development of a computer assisted system for localization in stereotactic brain imaging. Its main feature was to allow the registration between pre-operative 3D (MRI, CT) imaging and conventional X-rays radiographies acquired during the surgical intervention in stereotactic conditions. The correspondence was insured using external markers installed in the fixation of a Talairach stereotactic frame. This work has been realized at the Biophysics Laboratory of the Medical University of Lille and at the Lille Automatics Center, France. The system has been validated and installed at the neurosurgical department. It has been used in more than 1000 surgical interventions. The PhD defense took place in December 1991. I pursued this research activity part of 1992 at the Technical University of Lille.

2.2. 1992-today

I joined CNRS in 1992 at the laboratory of signal and ultrasound processing (LTSU) which further became CREATIS (Lyon, France). I belong to section 30 (Therapy, pharmaceutics and bioengineering: concepts and means, former section 22) of the department of life sciences of the CNRS. My research activities aim at developing new methods for analyzing multi-modal anatomical and functional medical images with main application to cardiac imaging. The objectives are to improve knowledge of the cardiac function and assist the physician in the detection and evaluation of cardiac pathologies, especially myocardial ischemia.
