I am an associate professor HDR in the Electrical Engineering Department at INSA Lyon and in the CREATIS lab, CNU 61, doctoral school EEA.

Short bio

I received my Electrical Engineering degree from ISTASE (now Telecom Saint-Étienne) in 2001, my M. Sc. degree (major in Image Processing) from the University of Saint-Étienne in 2001, and my Ph.D. degree (Image Processing) from the National Institute for Applied Sciences of Lyon (INSA-Lyon, France) in 2005. In 2023, I obtained the HDR (Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches) at INSA-Lyon / Université de Lyon with the doctoral school EEA (more details here).

I have been with CREATIS, a joint laboratory of the « Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique » (CNRS), the « Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale » (Inserm), the « Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Lyon » (INSA Lyon), and the « Université de  Lyon » since 2001. My research interests are in medical image segmentation, clustering, and filtering, particularly in methods involving feature space and scale-space approaches and deep learning approaches. I am affiliated to the Myriad team of CREATIS. I have contributed to 20 papers and co-supervised 6 PhD students.

Short CV

  • Digital Training @INSA Lyon. Since 2024, I’m in charge of digital training at INSA Lyon: supporting the training offer to meet INSA’s ambitions, training in new digital technologies (generative AI, etc.).
  • Co-head of the Numeric and AI committee @Creatis. Since 2026, with Valentine Wargnier-Dauchelle, we are in charge of managing AI and numeric systems used in the lab: proposing training, AI strategies, development tools… at the interface with the other lab’s services and users.
  • Multiple sclerosis transversal project head @CREATIS. From 2019 to 2026, with Françoise Durand-Dubief, we were in charge of animating and managing the MUSIC transversal project on Multiple Sclerosis and neuro-inflammation at the CREATIS laboratory (13 members).
  • Co-head of the Learning Work Package @Labex PRIMES. Since 2018, with Brunon Montcel, I am co-head of the pedagogical work package of Labex PRIMES. I manage the lab room creation and usage actually used about 200h/year per 10 different formations.
  • DLMI head (French editions) @LABEX PRIMES. For the Labex PRIMES, I have created and organized the DLMI deep learning in medical imaging schools (first edition in 2019, 2nd edition in 2021, 3rd at Montreal in 2022, 4th edition at Lyon in 2023, 5th edition at Montreal in 2024, 6th edition at Lyon in 2025, 7th edition at Montreal in 2026, 8th edition at Lyon in 2027): a one week school, with ~70 full participants with 16h of lecture, 4x4h hands-on sessions, a round table, a poster session and many social events.
  • IMESI Msc @INSA Lyon. From 2008 to 2014, I was the head of the International Master of Embedded Systems and Medical Image Engineering IMESI program.
  • Public relations @EE dept. INSA Lyon. From 2009 to 2013, I managed the public relations of the Electrical Engineering department of INSA Lyon.
  • IT relation @EE dept. Since 2009, I am in charge of relations with IT and the pedagogical platform for the electrical engineering department.
  • Head of Signal and Image processing major @ EE dept. From 2016 to 2020 – and from 2023 – now, I am the head of the final-year major in “signal and image processing” in the electrical engineering department.
