The ambition of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) is to develop a "network of FAIR data and services" to support science across Europe.
The EOSC Macro-Roadmap is an interactive catalog that brings together various types of contributions, including outcomes from European projects, deliverables, and selected in-kind contributions. It is as one of these selected contributions that the Virtual Imaging Platform (VIP) has been integrated into the EOSC Macro-Roadmap: https://eosc.eu/use-case/virtual-imaging-platform/
VIP is a web-based platform developed and hosted by CREATIS: https://vip.creatis.insa-lyon.fr/home.html. It offers researchers worldwide open access to scientific applications as a service. As of 2025, the platform hosts over 1,550 registered users and 25 applications. Beyond its initial objectives of resource sharing and easing access to computing infrastructures, VIP is evolving to address challenges related to interoperability and reproducibility, aligning with the broader FAIR approach to scientific data analysis.
