Flesh and Code: The New Computational Anatomy

8 février 2024

In full expansion, computational anatomy leverages artificial intelligence to capitalize on medical imaging and model the human body with unparalleled precision. Researchers from CREATIS, under the direction of Sebastien Valette, a researcher at CNRS, in collaboration with Sylvain Faisan, Fabrice Heitz, and Kaifen Zou from the Laboratory of Engineering Sciences, Computer Science, and Imaging (ICube, CNRS Unit, University of Strasbourg), have recently developed an artificial neural network capable of finely analyzing thousands of scanner images and subsequently digitally reconstructing complete bone structures. Their advancements could advance the field of forensic medicine and contribute to the development of virtual autopsies.
