CNRS IRP SANTAI: Reliability and Transparency of Artificial Intelligence Models in Healthcare – Applications to the Study of Cardiovascular and Neurodegenerative Diseases

14 November 2025

The close collaboration between the CREATIS laboratory and the VITALab laboratory at the University of Sherbrooke (Canada) has recently been strengthened through the award of a CNRS IRP* (International Research Project) entitled SANTAI, focused on artificial intelligence in healthcare.

This project aims in particular to develop artificial intelligence frameworks that integrate domain-specific medical knowledge in order to provide innovative solutions to interpretability and explainability in healthcare. These methods will be evaluated on high-impact pathologies, including cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases, relying on reference clinical datasets and the complementary expertise of the two partner laboratories.

* An IRP is a CNRS international cooperation instrument designed to support collaborative research projects between French and foreign partners that have already demonstrated their ability to work together. An IRP helps federate teams that may ultimately participate in European and international research calls.
